In 1978, Jill attended the 25th year reunion of her Bell-Avon High School
class of 1953. That year members of the class of 1958 were also in
attendance for their 20th year reunion. Among the members of that
class of 1958 was Chuck Scarborough (right), who spent much of his youth
in Avonmore and went to the same school Jill attended. He too was
destined to achieve celebrity status. Chuck joined the NBC television
news staff in New York in 1974 and currently anchors the evening
news on WNBC, Channel 4, NBC's flagship station in New York City.
He presently holds the distinction of being the nation's longest serving
news anchor, and you can read much more about Chuck's distinguished career

Chuck's grandfather practiced medicine in Avonmore, and it was he, the
Speranza family physician, who presided over the delivery of Norma Jean,
the youngest member of that family, into the world on September 30, 1935.
